When Trever started working with Athletes to Athletes, he was having trouble navigating the college selection process. Trever was having surface level conversations with a couple of different schools ranging from Power 5 division I Schools to academically rigorous DIII’s programs. Given his baseball background, he was also curious about Junior College as a way to gain more experience and create the potential for new athletic offers at the NCAA level. A2A worked with Trever to help him determine what his priorities were in his college experience, and what his long term goals were beyond college. His desire to get an engineering degree helped us have honest conversations about the success rate for athletes at different divisions, as well as the junior college transfer rates for highly competitive engineering programs. With this newfound direction, we helped Trever evaluate his opportunities at highly competitive engineering schools, and helped navigate scholarship opportunities at the DIII level to offset the inability to pursue athletic scholarship aid. Ultimately, Trever was able to play baseball at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology - one of the top engineering schools in the country - with alternative scholarship aid. While he may have had an opportunity to be on a Power 5 Division I roster, we helped Trever determine what was most important to him in his college experience and empowered him to make a decision that satisfied him academically, athletically, financially, and personally.
