There’s a reason that everyone is fleeing to Bozeman, Montana. Nestled in between mountains, rivers, and hiking trails galore, Montana State University boasts one of the most beautiful cities in the entire country.
Montana State holds its own in that category as well, with one of the most beautiful campuses as well. With the mountain skyline set as your backdrop to every walk to class, Montana State continues to renovate and build new since the burst in Bozeman's popularity. The engineering building was the newest building on campus during my visit, and it was stunning.
Despite being a state school, the average class size is only about 30, and the student-to-fault ratio is 19:1. Couple that with the hands-on learning opportunities provided to students in the first year and you’ll find that Montana State is built to help you succeed.
When I thought of Montana before my visit, I always associated it with spread-out, independent people. My stereotype was quickly debunked when I saw the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, which is a spectacular dome that hosts both Bobcat sports and events for the city. The dome atmosphere creates a pressure-cooker-type setting that makes it easy to get lost in supporting the team during home games.
Montana State works hard to provide opportunities for all of its students, and one example includes a reserved space for all Architecture students to simply work on projects whether it be personal or academic. They really do seem to invest in creating opportunities for their students whenever and wherever possible.
Fun Facts
- Bozeman is a nature lover’s delight. Hiking, Skiing, and fishing opportunities are available everywhere you turn in this exploding city
- A gift from the 1918 class, a large white “M” on nearby Mt. Baldy can be seen perfectly from campus. It was built with painted stones
Athlete Fun Fact
The School’s Fieldhouse, when constructed in 1957, was the largest domed structure in the western hemisphere and many Montana natives thought it was going to collapse. It is still used on campus today
