Located just outside of Dallas, Texas, Dallas Baptist University sits atop a hill overlooking Mountain Creek Lake. Unlike other religiously named universities, DBU embraces its baptist roots and synthesizes that passion into the student experience.
For those who are passionate about education and religion, DBU can provide a wonderful balance to grow both spiritually and academically in the Lone Star state. With a small campus population and an average class size of 13, you’ll be known by your name rather than by a number.
The school itself has risen in popularity in the last decade due mostly to the success of the school’s baseball team. The only NCAA DI program on campus, Patriot baseball consistently lands in the postseason and gives the school some national recognition.
DBU is predominately Texan, with 90% of the students hailing from the home state, and is a fairly homogenous campus with white students and faculty dominating the campus. The greater DFW area does provide a larger amount of diversity, but most students tend to stay on campus and interact with their DBU community.
For those that want t a close connection between their faith and their education, DBU would be a great choice. They believe leadership and service qualities are tied directly to their faith-based practices, and it’s a required portion of your experience.
Fun Facts
- True to their baptist connection, DBU has chapel services on campus every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Located less than 20 minutes from downtown Dallas, DBU sits on a hilltop by a lake in a much quieter part of the metroplex
Athlete Fun Fact
DBU is a Division II institution, but the baseball team is a member of the NCAA DI Missouri Valley Conference
