Located just northwest of Denver, Colorado, UC Boulder looks out to the Rocky Mountains in one of the most desirable cities in the United States. Voted #1 numerous times in the last decade, Boulder boasts excellent weather, nice people, and a housing market that will make you happy you’re living in the dorms!
One of the first recommendations I got on campus was to check out the Fiske Planetarium on campus. Fiske is actually located in a public science center located on Boulder’s campus, and it makes sense that folks would be interested in the astrological aspects of campus given that nearly 20 astronauts claim UC Boulder as their college.
Aeronautical engineering garners quite a lot of attention on campus, and with the Air Force Academy just down the road, it feels like that major was always destined to be popular! Ranked in the top 20 programs worldwide, the aerospace department has a lot to be proud of.
Walking around the campus itself is incredibly pleasant too. I visited in March when things were still a bit chilly for my Texas bones, but after waking from building to building I realized the walks are just long enough to warm up, but not so long that I resented my trips from building to building.
Competing in the PAC 12, Boulder has a strong athletic presence on campus, similar to many state colleges. You can find Ralphie the Bison running alongside her handlers at home football games, or head inside the bubble to watch a women’s lacrosse game when the snow is too much to deal with.
